What did you do?
That day we had a conference, in
which a principal of a rural school came to talk about how is to work there.
Back to class, we talked a bit about what we thought about that
conference.
We also talked a little about bloom
taxonomy and started briefly the evaluation unit.
What did you learn?
We talked a little about repetition
in elementary school children. we could learn that repeating can be a hard
shock for most of the children. It is important to make the decision, studying
each child individually and helping them with the change and the role of families
is fundamental in these cases.
We also learned that the stages of
bloom taxonomy range from the simplest (remember) to the most complex (create)
To create is the most complex
stadium. For elementary school children it is very complex to create, maybe
they can do it in the last year of primary.
What is your opinion?
I think that if a child does not
reach the expected academic level for his age, it is because something happens
to him. It could be lack of motivation, problems in his development, lack of
maturity, personal problems, etc. I think that if we know the possible reasons
it will help us to understand them and in some occasions, it will be good for
the child to repeat or not.
