What did you do?

The 20th of September was the first day of the course, and the first thing we were doing was to introduce ourselves with the teacher. In my case was the first day that I met the teacher since last year I did not have this subject to be Erasmus in Czech Republic.
After that the next thing we did was a presentation of the subject knowing everything we were going to study and do during the whole semester. and we did an introduction of the book that we are going to use to do a work "English for primary teachers. Oxford".
Finally, we were learning and practicing with an ICT application called "Class dojo"

What did you learn?

I think that the most interesting and useful thing that we learnt for my future as a teacher during the first class was the ICT application called "Class dojo"
Class dojo is a very useful application, where students can customize some little monsters and that it will be used to control attendance to class, a form of didactic application could be that the children one to one will rise to the digital board to control their assistance hitting their monsters and the teacher can create like a game where the children win points depending on their behavior.  This app Can be very motivating for them, since they should not be sitting in class all the time and at the same time they will thinking they are being useful, besides with the use of the little monsters that always amuse the children.

What is your opinion?

I think this subject will help me a lot in the future as a primary teacher. as we will not only learn and know the laws with which we are going to have to work, but also learn to handle and use different ICT apps, as we will also learn how to prepare and teach English classes to primary children.

I believe that this combination of ICT and English will be a fundamental requirement in order to find a job as a teacher.

What did you do? On October 19th, we started the lesson taking a look at portfolio box. It can be a good suggestion to do it in class. Students will be able to keep in their boxes their best projects in English, or any other subject. What did you do? In this day it was shown to the last project related to the book, concretely the topic of classroom management. So, we could learn tips and ideas that might be helpful for us while we are teaching in a school. What did you learn? One method to start the class that serves as motivation for students is to circle while a song is playing, and they are passing a puppet with their eyes closed. When the music sounds, one of the children has to guess who has the puppet. An interesting thing that we could see during the exhibition was a vocabulary box in which the students can put the tricky words or simply the most difficult during the whole course. That box will be in a visible place in the classroom for the students, with the help of the teacher, frequently revise those words. What did you do? That day we had a conference, in which a principal of a rural school came to talk about how is to work there. Back to class, we talked a bit about what we thought about that conference.  We also talked a little about bloom taxonomy and started briefly the evaluation unit. What did you learn? We talked a little about repetition in elementary school children. we could learn that repeating can be a hard shock for most of the children. It is important to make the decision, studying each child individually and helping them with the change and the role of families is fundamental in these cases.
