What did you do?

During the class of September 21st, we were doing the assignment of groups, we also continue talking about how the course it will be organized. We also started with the theory, in section 1.1 Organic law on education. And finally, we saw a video of the second principle that we talked about it after on, with all the classmates sitting in a semicircle.

What did you learn?

I could learn about the ORGANIC LAW ON EDUCATION that has a preamble of which we speak in class and offers us the main axes of education in Spain and explains the main ideas that we will have to consider before designing any type of program or lesson.
In the video about the second principle called “Keepers of the flame” I learned that we as future teachers must consider the interests of our students and motivate them and encourage them to do what they really like. Also, we as teachers will have the opportunity with the help of families to educate them in values, since we are responsible for educating future generations.

What is your opinion?

Although at the beginning of the course the theory is being a little bit hard, thanks to the methodology used by the teacher and in the way that the class is given, this becomes light, participative and pleasant. I could say as well that we carry out different kind of activities that I find very interesting, for instance watching a video. I think watching videos is a perfect way to acquire knowledge, not just for adults but also for the children that we will have in class.

What did you do? On October 19th, we started the lesson taking a look at portfolio box. It can be a good suggestion to do it in class. Students will be able to keep in their boxes their best projects in English, or any other subject. What did you do? In this day it was shown to the last project related to the book, concretely the topic of classroom management. So, we could learn tips and ideas that might be helpful for us while we are teaching in a school. What did you learn? One method to start the class that serves as motivation for students is to circle while a song is playing, and they are passing a puppet with their eyes closed. When the music sounds, one of the children has to guess who has the puppet. An interesting thing that we could see during the exhibition was a vocabulary box in which the students can put the tricky words or simply the most difficult during the whole course. That box will be in a visible place in the classroom for the students, with the help of the teacher, frequently revise those words. What did you do? That day we had a conference, in which a principal of a rural school came to talk about how is to work there. Back to class, we talked a bit about what we thought about that conference.  We also talked a little about bloom taxonomy and started briefly the evaluation unit. What did you learn? We talked a little about repetition in elementary school children. we could learn that repeating can be a hard shock for most of the children. It is important to make the decision, studying each child individually and helping them with the change and the role of families is fundamental in these cases.
