What did you do?

In the class of September 27th, we looked at the three principles of the Organic Law on Education in more detail, and we had to make a mind map about them at home. we were also working in class with the organic law on education LOMCE which is the law that is currently in force.
We were talking as well about a new subject that is being prepared in Castilla la Mancha and that will be about equality, integration, diversity and tolerance and that will be compulsory in 5th grade.

What did you learn?

During this class I learned that it is very important to ask our students sometimes what they want to learn about some topics because in this way we will encourage motivation and creativity in them. I also learnt two others ITC applications called “bubbl.us and popplet.com” that are very useful, and we can use them to structure and organize our ideas and make mental and conceptual maps, as well as murals, galleries, etc.

What is your opinion?

As teachers we will partly have the responsibility to reduce the dropout rate as much as possible. Castilla la Mancha is one of the regions with the highest rates and we must provide remedy and solution. Another thing that characterizes our region is that in our Royal Decree we have more than 3000 standards of assessment, which makes it impossible to consider all of them.
By last, I think it would be much more important and more useful if we had less contents to teach to the students to be able to learn them slower and in a better way.

What did you do? On October 19th, we started the lesson taking a look at portfolio box. It can be a good suggestion to do it in class. Students will be able to keep in their boxes their best projects in English, or any other subject. Also, the students can create like a language passport in which they can reflect their experiences with any language. besides that, there is also a biography where they can show how they learn, which activities they do, etc. We also were talking about the document of how evaluate the key competence, we also saw how to plan a whole scholar year and how to make a syllabus. What did you do? In this day it was shown to the last project related to the book, concretely the topic of classroom management. So, we could learn tips and ideas that might be helpful for us while we are teaching in a school. What did you learn? One method to start the class that serves as motivation for students is to circle while a song is playing, and they are passing a puppet with their eyes closed. When the music sounds, one of the children has to guess who has the puppet. An interesting thing that we could see during the exhibition was a vocabulary box in which the students can put the tricky words or simply the most difficult during the whole course. That box will be in a visible place in the classroom for the students, with the help of the teacher, frequently revise those words. What did you do? That day we had a conference, in which a principal of a rural school came to talk about how is to work there. Back to class, we talked a bit about what we thought about that conference.  We also talked a little about bloom taxonomy and started briefly the evaluation unit. What did you learn? We talked a little about repetition in elementary school children. we could learn that repeating can be a hard shock for most of the children. It is important to make the decision, studying each child individually and helping them with the change and the role of families is fundamental in these cases.
